Once upon a time… Actually, in September 1999, a little company called 'Blue Sphere' opened its doors for business in Singapore. Even though it only had three people in it, (Jay Shapiro, Genevieve Tang & Josse Tan) the company was a-glow with joy, as it was Asia's first independent Interactive Marketing Agency.
We were determined to build an agency with a difference. From "Day One" BLUE has focused on providing intelligent results-based marketing strategies and activities to help Enterprise level companies to interact with their customers in a more meaningful, frequent and profitable manner. OK, well maybe the vision wasn't that clear right from the beginning, but it has been continually refined and improved over time.
Most important has been the focus on BLUE's employees and developing the company as a great place to work. We have continually strived to make BLUE a place where everyone feels a strong sense of contribution to the overall goals of the company, and not just a small cog in the larger machine. This has been achieved through constant dedication to personal and professional development of everyone at BLUE. The idea being that if you feel like the team is contributing to your development, then you are happy to contribute to your team's development. This is a key philosophy that runs through our HR policies, our product development strategies and our management style.
Sometime in late 2000, when the internet bubble was really stretching to bursting point, a global IT consulting group, decided to open their own interactive marketing company. Seeing as they wanted to give it the best name in the industry, they decided to take ours and called themselves Blue Sphere. Our lawyer's letters telling them to cut it out because we had a trademarked the name were answered with something to the effect of "we have more lawyers than you have employees", and so "BLUE" was born…
In 2001, we opened our London office and through continued effort and growth, in 2004, we now have BLUE clients using our services and platforms in over 40 countries worldwide and in over 20 languages. More than 5% of all the FORTUNE-100 global enterprises use BLUE and we are delighted to still be growing profitably, having never taken on a penny of venture capital funds.
The real proof of our success comes right back to where we started, with our people. BLUE is full of incredible, experienced professionals. Between us we combine the skills of almost every major agency and insights garnered from a diverse array of cultures, including: Singapore, UK, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Australia, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Turkey! We have struggled together through the hard times and have been successful enough to celebrate together during the great times.
